Already Covered by an Income Protection policy?
If you're moving from an existing Income Protection policy to Canopy Insurance, you're eligible for Continuous Cover Terms — meaning you can switch without starting from scratch.
As long as your policy was active and continuous up until the date you take out your new Canopy policy, we'll recognise that existing cover and apply special conditions that work in your favour.
What’s Included Under Continuous Cover Terms?
-
The time you’ve already spent insured counts. You won’t have to wait all over again before you can claim.
-
You don’t need to complete new health checks or medical underwriting — your current health status won’t disqualify you.
-
If you’ve had continuous cover for 12 months or more, pre-existing conditions from your previous policy may be accepted under your new Canopy policy.
-
If your old policy would have paid a claim, we will too — even if your condition started before joining Canopy.
-
If your old policy had a more favourable pre-existing clause than ours, we’ll use that to assess your claim.
-
To keep things fair and aligned with policy rules, we’ll apply the lower benefit amount between your previous policy and your new Canopy policy.
